No More Overdue Fines!

Salinas Public Library is excited to announce that effective July 1st, 2022, overdue or late fines for all library patrons has been eliminated. This move was approved by the City Council through the removal of late fines for adult materials from the 2023 City-wide schedule of fees at the April 26th City Council Meeting, In addition to the elimination of late fines, the Library has been implementing automatic renewal on eligible items since late 2021 to allow for worry-free borrowing.
"The library has already implemented fine-free for overdue children and young adult materials for more than six years. This move is an expansion of similar principle to all library patrons and further remove barriers
Summer Lunch Program

The Free Summer Lunch and Snack Program has begun!
Children and youth ages 18 and under receive nutritious lunch and snack that include vegetables, fruits, seeds and healthy dairy products like milk, string cheese and yogurt, at 6 City locations.
Program is Monday thru Friday
June 13 thru August 5
* The Cesar Chavez Library will be CLOSED every Monday.
- Lunch is served from 12 to 1 p.m. and Snack is served from 3 to 4 p.m. at Central Park and
Cesar Chavez Library - Lunch is served from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. and Snack is served
Visit State Parks for free with Library's Parks Pass

Parks Passes are now available to borrow from Salinas Public Library!
To provide more equitable access, reduce barrier of access, and to encourage more Californians to spend time outdoors, California State Parks and the California State Library have distributed California State Library Parks Pass to public libraries across the state for checkout by library patrons. The new pass will allow free vehicle day use entry for one passenger vehicle with capacity of nine people or less or one highway licensed motorcycle, at more than 200 participating state park units.

The roadmap to safer streets in Salinas!
Salinas City Council has approved a resolution adopting the Salinas Vision Zero Action Plan. This Action Plan outlines the initiatives and actions that City departments and partner agencies will take to advance goals of the City’s Vision Zero Policy, reducing severe injury traffic collisions and fatalities on Salinas streets.
What does this mean? Although the City already actively implements safety projects, programs and efforts consistent with Vision Zero Policy, the Vision Zero Action Plan aligns with community feedback staff received from other planning efforts and uses data to identify priority projects.
